Something’s wrong with the media - US!
One of my favorite pastimes has to be that of scrutinizing CNN’s popular lists for what our wise and esteemed colleagues (humans) find important in today’s world.
A little background on the real news of the day.
- Bush urged the Israel Occupation to End
- Kenyan crisis talks end in failure
- UK approves new nuclear plants
- U.S economic outlook worsens (BBC news)
Boring right? I mean, who cares? The economy of most of the world’s hegemon is crumbling. Yet people really care about Debra Lafavre. It’s the number 2 issue on the American mind.
And you wonder at the media. They’re giving you (cue us) what you want. How can you then blame the media for your own guilty pleasures. You want society to change, you don’t want your liberties and privileges raped, yet you sit mesmerized by the unremarkable story of a blond teacher having it off with one of her enterprising students.
How could you possibly expect change.
And don’t get me started on the question/headline ranking at number 5. Just don’t
