Has Bush lost momentum and support over Iran?

Bush’s tour of the middle-east has served to remind us that despite the tone and teary-eyed candor of his messages. By and large the entire world opposes any form of military intervention in Iraq.

Al Jazeera points out that contemporary U.S foreign policy has done nothing save give Iran a more powerful global voice. Bush’s attempt to court King Abdullah’s blessings seem fruitless, if anything, Saudi ties to Iran have grown stronger over the years.

But garnering Middle-East support might simply be a Worth-A-Shot attempt by Bush. It certainly would be no deterrent in my eyes to the invasion of Iran.

Sarkozy’s statement that “Arabs have nuclear right” will be worrying the Administration far more than the laments hailing from the Middle-East. If Europe becomes a bigger player in the coming months, something might come of protesting.

Has Bush’s plan backfired? It’s a little early to tell. Certainly, the coalition of the willing seems to have evaporated. Replaced by a coalition of the disgruntled.

Many of Bush’s supporting figureheads (to put it mildly) in Europe and elsewhere have been de-throned, replaced by staunch anti-war Politicians. This in itself, a sign that the world has had enough.
