McCain Entertains 100 More Years Of War

Ensuring stability in Iraq could take anywhere from 100 to one million years (roughly 750 million dead troops), according to the Arizona Republican. Staying the course in Iraq then, a necessity, for this presidential hopeful. To this end the enterprising Republican supports the installation of military bases in Iraq.

Even the President of War seemed to hesitate a moment at McCain’s remark;

BUSH: I don’t know if a hundred years is the right number. That’s a long time.

100 years, or 200 Friedman units, is indeed a very long time. I can’t help but wonder whether much thought went into this remark. The revelation of an ideology, dwarfed by the gargantuan display of Nationalistic Ego-centrism. A position best kept for oneself, a fact which McCain will discover further along down the election highway as his words will isolate him from many potential voters in the country (namy the smart and independents).

John “one-hundred-year-war” McCain comes across as nothing more than a third Bush term, ruining all his attempts at distancing himself from the administration (despite re-iterating the same points regarding Iraq).

John McCain’s top advisor explained McCain’s support for the war and the impact it would have on McCain’s future aspirations saying, “It is stay-the-course, no matter what. And if it dooms McCain, so be it.” [Bloomberg News, 4/20/06]
