The Draft - And How To Avoid It
Despite the threat of being over-burdened, the United States continues it’s global “them and us” crusade. Whether or not you agree that a draft is inevitable, you might want to give the thought some serious consideration.
Avoiding the draft requires preparation, the sooner you become aware of your options, the easier. But it’s NEVER too late to opt-out. There are many misconceptions regarding your rights as a citizen, put the gun down and pick up your glasses (yes, that can mean many things including celebrating your new found freedom with your misses and a bottle of Whiskey).
1. Do Not Register.
Its quite simple really. The key is knowing that you are not alone in not registering. Despite big-brother’s threats and bluffs, you will be among 3 million people who have declined to register. Why does that make you safe? The Selective Service has convicted 20 people since 1980. Their only option would be to introduce large scale concentration camps (not that I’d put it past them personally, and some have been already been built).
2. If you did register
- Move - Simply move and do not leave any forwarding address.
- Know the constitution - If you are summoned and you’re pretty sure they know where are you are. Heed the summon, if not you will be arrested and this will prove a hindrance in enforcing your rights. When summoned you will be placed alongside others on a yellow line. At one point an officer will order everyone to take a step forward. Gather your thoughts and grab your balls, you’re going to need them. DO NOT STEP FORWARD. By law, by stepping forward you are volunteering. According to the thirteenth amendment, nobody can be forced into servitude (read below for text). You will be singled out, insulted and possible beaten. But hold firm, courts have dismissed cases made against people like you on this issue. You will prevail.
As far as I’m concerned, this is still a draft, and serves only as punishment and a deterrent. However, it is your last line of defense if you didn’t try or execute the previous points. Working the soup kitchen is preferable over dieing over someone’s war-game.
On a positive note, perhaps all the pro-war advocates sign up as the front-line assault on Iraq or Iran. Perhaps as the field thins out a little, we’ll regain some sanity.
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
