Possibility of Israeli Strike on Iran?
Some of us have forgotten the ominous words uttered by Dick Cheney at the outset of Bush’s second term.
“One of the concerns people have is that Israel might do it without being asked… Given the fact that Iran has a stated policy that their objective is the destruction of Israel, the Israelis might well decide to act first, and let the rest of the world worry about cleaning up the diplomatic mess afterwards,” (quoted from an MSNBC Interview 2005)
Although Cheney snidely distances himself from Israeli foreign policy, only someone with an IQ akin to that of an ashtray would ever believe that US-Israeli interests are somhow unconnected. A unilateral act of violence would have to be ratified and approved by U.S interests.
Iran’s retaliation would set the entire region on fire. Providing Bush and co. with valid reasons to push out an all-out-war strategy that would lead to fertile terrain for Neo-con terra-forming policies in the region.
Logic would dictate that the plan is in its final phases. One fact which is not often mentioned about the Hormuz incident is that it occurred close to Iran’s borders. The country has been surrounded by U.S forces, it’s infrastructure penetrated by CIA operatives, intent on pushing for regime change.
This isn’t a revelation, Bush has often reinforced the very idea in public.
“Clearly, if I was the leader of Israel and I’d listened to some of the statements by the Iranian ayatollahs that regarded the security of my country, I’d be concerned about Iran having a nuclear weapon as well. And in that Israel is our ally, and in that we’ve made a very strong commitment to support Israel, we will support Israel if her security is threatened.” Source
Not only is Bush agreeing with a unilateral strike, he is suggesting that Israel do so. Below is a youtube video, where Mr.Galloway predicts Israeli intervention (at the end of the video, but still an interesting debate).
